30.12.2010

Look at this photo and tell me what you see.

I'll tell you what I see. I see pride! I see power! I see a bad-ass mother who don't take no crap off of nobody!

I heard today didn't go as amazingly super-wonderful as yesterday did so I thought you might like a reminder that I believe in you, as do all people who were ever in any way connected to the wonder of cinematic art that is "Cool Runnings".

I took the liberty of also including (on the post below) 40 Motivational Speeches that may be useful. One, and only one section does not apply and that's where the chap in 12 Angry Men (?) suggests it's a lost cause. It is anything but. You can still break and win this thang.

As last I heard you were on straight seconds. Regardless of how well you did in the last round today 10 points could never put you out of the break. So kick ass and don't bother taking names! The Cliquot is still chilling in my fridge.

I love you.

Yours etc,

Dear Darla...

Hey there,

I hope Botswana is treating you well so far! Sorry I didn't email sooner, the internet connection on this bus is pretty poor. :)

I've been meaning to add these pictures for ages, so this gives me a good excuse. From your text message earlier I assume that you have internet in the auld accommodation, I hope that the ethernet cable is vaguely useful and, indeed, that the iPod is fulfilling its purpose. I'll let you know when my phone starts having internet on it too, should be soon enough.

It's pouring rain here so the ice and snow are fading away but it means everything is very dull and grey. I'm sure the weather in Gaborone is slightly less freezing cold. Keep me posted on how all the things are yonder and I'll do the same here. The next set of photos I'ma keep until I be posting again which will be tomorrow or the day after.

If for some reason I'm not talking to you before your debates start, kick ass and take names, dahlink. I love you.

Yours, etc.
K

Nocturnes

I am weary with love, and thy lips
Are night-born poppies.
Give me therefore thy lips
That I may know sleep.

I am weary with longing,
I am faint with love;
For upon my head has the moonlight
Fallen
As a sword.

I bought some...

Ezra Pound

And the days are not full enough
And the nights are not full enough
And life slips by like a fieldmouse
Not shaking the grass

-Ezra Pound

I feel we should have this close to hand. It does seem to slip through the notebooks.

Feminism

I've shown you this before, at least this way I won't lose it. It still reminds me of you even after all this time.

Yours, etc.

I Like, by The Divine Comedy

I like your nose, I like your hair
I like you clothed, I like you bare
I like your boots, your skirts and your blouses
I like your suits, your shirts and your trousers

I like your mild political stances
I like your wild spontaneous dances
I like the way you drive me insane
Morning, noon and night

I like you 'cause you're sexy
I like the sexy things you dress in
I like it when you're sitting next to me
Whispering sexy things

I like you 'cause you like me
I like the poems that you write me
I like the pictures that you thoughtfully
draw for me
They make me look all right
Oh yeah, I like, I like, I like

I like the way you make me laugh
(make me laugh)
I like your brain, both left and right half
(both left and right half)
I like the songs you sing when you're bathing
(sing when you're bathing)
I like your dog when he's behaving
(when he's behaving)
I like your car, you curse like a trooper
(curse like a trooper)
During a hard reversing maneuver
I like the way we kiss and we make up after a fight

I like you 'cause you're sexy
I like the sexy things you dress in
I like it when you're sitting next to me
texting me sexy things
I like you 'cause you like me
I like the poems that you write me
I like the pictures that you thoughtfully
Draw for me
They make me look all right
Oh yeah, I like, I like, I like

I like you 'cause you're crazy
I like the way you do whatever you like
It constantly amazes me, baby please stay with me tonight
Oh yeah, I like, I like, I like!

Also have a pretty dress...

First Day of my Life

This is the first day of my life
I swear I was born right in the doorway
I went out in the rain suddenly everything changed
They're spreading blankets on the beach

Yours is the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
Now I don’t know where I am
I don’t know where I’ve been
But I know where I want to go

And so I thought I’d let you know
That these things take forever
I especially am slow
But I realize that I need you
And I wondered if I could come home

Remember the time you drove all night
Just to meet me in the morning
And I thought it was strange you said everything changed
You felt as if you'd just woke up
And you said “this is the first day of my life
I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you
But now I don’t care I could go anywhere with you
And I’d probably be happy”

So if you want to be with me
With these things there’s no telling
We just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery
Besides maybe this time is different
I mean I really think you like me

I just thought we should have this someplace... I'm missing you something awful. So bored I cleaned my fridge! Shockin', anyway I'll send you an email soon, I just wanted something here when you got in.

Yours, etc.
